IPL scar treatment

IPL therapy, or intense pulsed light treatment, is a non-invasive treatment method that addresses a variety of skin problems. It works in the deeper layers of the skin where blood vessels, pigment cells and collagen fibres are located. It is used to rejuvenate the skin, remove unwanted pigmentation, blood vessels and prevent hair growth. In addition, the treatment is almost painless.

What is IPL and how does it work?

IPL, or Intense Pulsed Light, is a technology that uses light to treat skin problems in a targeted manner. The light is absorbed by the pigment in the scar, which aids in the healing process and reducing the visibility of scars.

For whom IPL is suitable

IPL light is effective for people with various types of scars, including hypertrophic, keloid and hypotrophic scars. It is suitable for most skin types and can be applied to different parts of the body.

What you get from the procedure

  • Reduction and lightening of scars
  • Improving the overall appearance of the skin
  • Minimal pain and fast recovery

Before treatment

The doctor will evaluate whether pulsed light treatment is the ideal method for the problem. During the consultation, he or she will suggest the number of repetitions necessary. This is usually 3-4 sessions. Approximately 4 weeks prior to treatment, it is recommended to avoid direct sunlight and tanning beds or self-tanning creams.

Course of treatment

IPL treatment is a non-invasive method that does not require anesthesia. A special head uses intense light to treat the selected area, penetrating into the deeper layers of the skin. Thanks to the fact that the Cellec V system we use filters the light rays with absolute precision, the radiation does not damage the surrounding tissues. The treatment takes about 20-60 minutes.

After treatment

Slight redness of the skin may occur after pulsed light treatment. Return to normal activities is possible immediately. Sun exposure should be avoided for 6 weeks and the treated area should be protected with a high SPF cream. Should bruising related to damage to small blood vessels appear, it will disappear within a few days.

Important information

How your scar looks and which solution is best for its removal must always be evaluated by the treating physician after a personal consultation. An early appointment can help reduce scars more effectively.
