Ear surgery (Otoplasty)
A frequent anomaly of the outer ear is a protruding or otherwise deformed auricle. Their conspicuous appearance attracts increased attention and brings with it inconvenience in normal life. The problem can be unilateral or bilateral. Often it is the asymmetry that arouses more interest in the surroundings. It affects women and men equally.
Otoplasty is one of the most frequently requested procedures in our country. Why? Because with us, you no longer have to hide your ears.

What is otoplasty
Otoplasty is a collective term for various aesthetic ear surgery techniques that aim to give the ears a natural appearance, especially to correct their unnatural slope (the angle of the cartilage of the ears and head). It is always entirely in the plastic surgeon's discretion which surgical technique to choose.
What you get from the procedure
- Natural head and ear angle
- Increased self-confidence
- Easy and quick solution for flat ears
- Solutions for deformity of the pinnae
Before and after
Before surgery
During the consultation, the plastic surgeon will recommend not only the appropriate technique, but also possible pre-operative skin treatment or subcutaneous therapy to achieve the optimal post-operative result and long-term effect.
The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia only and a basic pre-operative examination will be required.
The course of the operation
After local anaesthesia, the plastic surgeon makes a small incision on the back of the ears to remove excess skin behind the ear, and then shapes the ear cartilage, adjusting its angle (angle away from the head) and, if necessary, the muscles behind the ear. He then stitches the wound with absorbable sutures. The scar is hidden in the skin fold and is therefore not visible.
After the operation
The site of the procedure may be slightly swollen and bruising may appear for the next few days. It is necessary to wear a special headband immediately after the surgery, but it will not prevent you from normal activities. You should also follow a special hygiene regime and avoid physical activity for a few days after surgery. The final results of the procedure are usually visible within 2 months.
Important information
If you are considering surgery for your child, you will first have a joint consultation with our plastic surgeon who will decide if the timing is right for the procedure or if you need to wait.
