Liposuction
Plastic surgery
Excess fat detracts from a beautiful figure, so it is no surprise that most women and men seek ways to reduce it once and for all. Liposuction presents a suitable option, allowing us to remove fat deposits from typical problematic areas. Our clients are often people of healthy weight who form fat deposits due to hereditary predisposition, and thus diets and regular exercise do not work for them. Liposuction is often performed as a supplement to augmentation (breast enhancement), breast lift, abdominoplasty, or it can be performed as a separate procedure.
Liposuction is one of the most frequent plastic surgery procedures. The goal is to remove excess fat and improve the contours of the body.
What is liposuction
Several types of liposuction exist, each with its own set of advantages and disadvantages. All types of liposuction are based on the same principle. First, a tumescent solution is injected into the area to fill and spread through the area where the fat tissues are to be disrupted. The tumescent solution is made up of a physiological saline solution with a local anesthetic and other components, such as adrenaline. Next, cannulas are used to physically break up and suction the fat tissue. Conventional liposuction, a simple technique with good postoperative results, uses a metal cannula, for instance, which a surgeon moves and uses to suction fat from the subcutaneous tissue.
If liposuction would not bring about the desired effect due to the volume of fat and loose skin, our plastic surgeon may also suggest a more extensive procedure such as abdominoplasty, thigh lift, arm lift, or buttocks lift.
Who is a suitable candidate for this procedure
Important factors include maintaining a healthy and constant weight as well as being in good health physically and mentally. Skin elasticity is another important factor. For us to perform the procedure, your skin must be able to adapt, or else you risk developing dimples and wrinkles in the skin.
What can you gain from this procedure
- Reduction of excess fat
- For optimal effect, we recommend combining with device therapy
- Improved body contours
- Amazing results
Before the procedure
If you are traveling to ABClinic Art & Beauty for liposuction from abroad, the first consultation can be done using photographs.
The procedure
The length of the procedure depends on the type of used anesthesia, as well as the scope of the procedure, varying between thirty minutes and two to three hours. A plastic surgeon makes a small incision with local anesthesia and injects a tumescent solution into the area. Then the surgeon suctions the appropriate amount of fat tissue. After the liposuction is complete, the small wounds left by the cannulas are stitched or taped up.
After the procedure
If your procedure is performed under local anesthesia, you are free to go home after thirty minutes. If the procedure took place under general anesthesia or analgosedation, you should need a brief in-patient treatment at the clinic.
In general, we recommend keeping a compression garment on for three to seven days. The stitches or tape are usually removed after one week.
After one or two days, depending on the scope of the procedure, you can resume light office work.
We recommend beginning post-surgical lymphatic drainage and regular massages about ten to fourteen days after the surgery.
Liposuction methods – used devices
Conventional liposuction cannulas are just 3-5 mm wide and suction fat tissue as gently as possible.
Body-Jet
Before and during liposuction, a tumescent solution is injected into the relevant area. The body-jet® uses up to 70% less tumescent solution than conventional liposuction. This makes the results visible almost immediately after the procedure since the body does not retain excess fluid.
This is a gentler method due to the stream of water that dislodges fat tissue while simultaneously injecting tumescent solution and suctioning fat cells. Less extensive bruising is a positive side effect.
The results are visible immediately after the procedure with minimal damage to surrounding tissues.
PAL
Power-assisted liposuction (PAL) removes fat using a vibrating cannula. This means the procedure requires much less force than other types of liposuction. Unlike laser and ultrasonic liposuction systems, this method does not create heat and thus does not risk damage to the surrounding tissue.
PlasmaLipo
PlasmaLipo features new patented technology with two big advantages: the surrounding tissue can be treated with plasma, which has a positive effect on collagen in the subcutaneous tissue, and it does not lead to high temperatures, thus avoiding the risk of damage to the surrounding tissues, which is a concern when using a laser. PlasmaLipo is most often used along with body-jet® liposuction, where the tissue is treated with a plasma laser after the fat is suctioned out. The plasma laser activates the collagen in the subcutaneous tissue, which tightens the skin.
Important information
A surgeon will tell you whether liposuction can be done under local anesthesia, analgosedation, or general anesthesia.
After consulting with a plastic surgeon, you will choose the most suitable liposuction technique.
Our plastic surgeon will inform you of suitable supplementary therapies to heal and improve the results after the procedure.
If a plastic surgeon does not recommend liposuction for you, then you can select a different method more suitable for your issue.
