How does breast reduction work?
Before the procedure
The first step is a consultation with our plastic surgeon, who will consider the problems caused by excessive breast size and assess the elasticity of the skin. You will then discuss your idea of future size and undergo a mammogram and internal pre-operative examination.
During the procedure
During the operation, the surgeon removes excess tissue, reduces the size of the gland and creates its desired shape, and moves the nipple-areolar complex into the desired position. The surgery takes 2-3 hours and is performed under general anesthesia.
After the procedure
After the procedure, you will be admitted to our clinic for usually 2 nights. You will then be discharged to home care and after 1 week you can perform light office work. We use absorbable threads to suture the wound, so the stitches do not need to be removed.
